Good easy learn spanish website?
I want a website ( or youtube series of videos) that has a good and easy way to learn spanish. I know a lot already, but i have almost finished my curriculum and i am still not speaking fluently! Any tips? ANd Rosetta Stone owners…Do you like it? was it worth the money? thanks everybody!
Here are some of the best sites that worked for me. For a series of videos, which appears to be your preference, these are the best:
Yabla: http://yabla.com
Destinos: http://www.learner.org/resources/series75.html
Yabla lets you learn from music videos, and "real" people talking, and costs a few dollars a month.
Destinos, which is free on the website, is a corny telenovela, but it works. While you don’t "need" to, pick up some used Destinos workbooks (not the expensive textbooks) on Amazon or Ebay to help you.
If you don’t have much time, like video, and are dedicated, you can probably stop here. With just these two alone, mixed with practice, over the course of six to nine months, you should be at an intermediate level before you finish.
I’ve also tried the following podcasts, and still use them for review. They’re all good, and provide a decent free section and add a small $5-$10 monthly fee for the rest of the material. I mainly go back between SpanishPod.com, which is funnier, and Eduphone. Choose the one that’s best for you.
Spanish Pod (http://www.SpanishPod.com)
Spanish Pod 101 (http://www.SpanishPod101.com) — yes, a similar name but different
Eduphone (http://www.Eduphone.com)
There are a number of other tools, including sites that let you test yourself, and partner with native speakers to help you practice and learn better. One example is:
LiveMocha.com
Also,
Puerta Del Sol (http://www.elearnspanishlanguage.com/products/puertadelsol.html)
lets you learn from an audio subscription of current events that comes on a CD. This is cool, but costs $100 or so, and has a more Spain feel than Latin American feel, but, again, it’s cool.Go
Finally, because you really have to practice, and hear spontaneous conversation to "really" learn, these following methods — all free or cheap — worked for me and I recommend them for you:
* Join (or start) a Spanish Meetup (http://spanish.meetup.com),
* Go to a church’s Spanish service (preferably Apostolic Pentecostal – I just had to get that in
as they tend to be more dynamic which keeps your mind more engaged.)
* Watch and record one of the Spanish kids shows on PBS once a month (use one that also has a transcript available so you can record and re-watch with the transcript later).
* Find a friend that speaks Spanish, and (with their permission) ONLY speak Spanish with them.
BTW, there wasn’t a Spanish Meetup in our area so I started one, and it’s a place to just practice once a week (or once a month) without fear. Also, the first time I went to a Spanish service, I only understood about 5-10%, but kept trudging along, and ended up on the praise team!
Good luck!
Who can help me learn to speak Spanish?
Hey, I am sixteen….I have always kind of wanted to speak spanish, but so far I have been to lazy or just haven’t gotten to it……well now I have a job that everyone speaks Spanish but me…..I feel out of place and I know that they are talking about me…..most of them speak English too, but they speak Spanish more……anyway…..I really wanted to learn Spanish so I could talk to them……and I just think it would be really cool to know…..the thing is I kind of want to learn really fast, and I don’t have a lot of money to spend on this either. So if anyone has any ideas, then I would be very happy to hear them!! I need some help…I know this kind of thing isn’t easy.
I’d say the best way would be to forget learning by books and grammar, and learn how to say "como se dice?" meaning "how do you say?" Start off with words and use them as much as possible in conversations, then go on to phrases. Don’t be afraid to try, it will actually be a complement if you try to talk their language and they’ll try and help you out. Lean phrases you’d use, like how are you doing? etc. and you’ll slowly train your ears to pick up the words they’re speaking. Also try not to be intimidated if they’re always speaking spanish. People tend to be more comfortable speaking their own language amongst themselves. The more you hear it and speak it the quicker you’ll understand it. Good luck.
What are some good recipes from Spanish speaking countries?
I have a project for Spanish, but it doesn’t have to just be from Mexico or Spain! Any dish ideas from any Spanish speaking country would be most appreciated!
Fried Plantaines (also known as Tostones or Fried Bananas) are always delicious. You can buy them cheap at the market, peel them, cut them, pound them with a big spoon (so they’re flat), season with garlic salt, and fry. They’re delicious and popular among many hispanic speaking countries.
You can also never go wrong with Yellow Rice & Beans. A typical favorite!

should i have learnt the basic of guitar before starting learning spanish guitar?
I like to learn Spanish guitar. but i dont have learnt the basic chords of the guitar. but i have learnt music by learning piano.
how could i make my way to Spanish guitar music?
thanks in advance!
hi. im a record producer and id like to answer your question. In my professional opinion, theres no "wrong way" to learn guitar. However, the path you start on will forever shape the way you play. I see nothing wrong with learning spanish or classical guitar first. I would almost say to learn spanish guitar first. that way when you make your way to learning chords. you will have a good understanding of the basic fundamentals of guitar. as far as making your way into spanish guitar? just start listening to classical guitarists. "Classical Gas" is a great song to learn from. difficult to play, but very good. if you want to learn by ear, learn by ear. or get a teacher of you feel it neccesary. or start readong books on spanish guitar playing. theres are tons of venues in which to start. you can always email me from my profile for further help.
what is the best way to learn spanish in costa rica?
im planning on going to costa rica to tach english as an ESL teacher for 6 months to 1 year. I also really want to learn the spanish language to the point that I become fluent. what is the best way to become fluent in the spanish language?
Read the local newspapers. Not books, not the opinion pages, not even most magazines, just the news stories. You will quickly see that Spanish and ENglish have a lot in common. Get the U of CHicago English SPanish dictionary, not an idiotic electronic translator that is so appealing but inconvenient- everybody buys them, nobody uses them.
Avoid contact with English speakers which is now close to impossible in C.R.
Take a class in any subject you like that is given in Spanish. You may flunk the course but you will learn a lot of Spanish quickly. THere are lots of private schools teaching everything imaginable, hair cutting, car repair, electronics and air conditioning maintenance. Doesn’t really matter what you take but try to pick something you like.
Avoid taking any private language lessons, all the ones I’ve seen are rip-offs.
Watch television, again, especially the news.
If you drink, have a drink or two- it eases the inhibition of making an ass of yourself publicly, which is necessary for a few months as you start to babble in a foreign language.( I suppose I could have phrased that more gracefully.)
Good luck.
