I’m trying to learn Spanish. What is a quick and easy way to learn basic Spanish? Enough to communicate with?

I’m looking for a simple way to learn the Spanish language. I don’t need to know about verbs, and adverbs and all that stuff. I just need to learn how to understand and communicate with other people in the Spanish language. Does anyone have suggestions on ways to learn the language that worked well for you? Thank you for your help.

I learn conversational English by watching TV with subtitles and talking with people.

How do I learn to speak Spanish fluently?

I take Spanish now in high school. They do not go into depth much, but you do get a basic understanding. I am going into Spanish 2. What software or books would you recommend to help me learn Spanish?

I think your enthusiasm is awesome and the most important ‘tool’ you can have to become fluent in Spanish! I was like you and wanted so much more from my HS Spanish classes. By the time I got to college, I knew SO much grammar but could not put it together, thus was not fluent. I only became truly fluent when I traveled and lived in Spain. Its too much to describe why in this posting! But for YOU, you can still make a big difference to your fluency by practicing with native speakers. Find anyone in your town/city that speaks Spanish and talk to them! It will help you tremendously. Also, listen to Spanish language music and really try to learn the lyrics… I know this sounds cheesy, but it really helps to teach you how to put words together correctly, and also increases your vocabulary because in the process you’ll be learning new words. If you really want software, Rosetta Stone is not a bad way to go.

How to improve my spanish accent when speaking spanish?

I am actually decent in spanish and can carry on basic conversations with spanish speaking people. I am going to spain on a class trip next year and want to improve my accent. I can’t roll my r’s and when I am speaking to someone i butcher many of the words. Up until about 6th grade by teachers would tell me I had a lovely spanish accent but I have lost it. Please help!

In vowels accent; pronounce as this:

a as in as, and, sand
e like in end, never
i like in it, inside
o like in ok, older
u like in nutrition, nuremberg, ruler

and the r like in red, rocket, rule

Hope this could help.

Can anyone give me 50 spanish phrases with the english translation?

I have to do a vocabulary notebook every nine weeks for my third year spanish class. I have run out of ideas because i know a lot of the normal phrases. I need original phrases. They can be idiomatic expressions, but just not very common phrases because i have most likely used them. If they are thematic that would be great! :)

¿En serio? ¿Es estudiante del tercer año y no puedes escribir cincuenta frases?

Do people who speak spanish understand when someone latino is not speaking spanish properly?

Not like broken English or a foreigner trying to speak it. Like Ebonics or a latino not educated properly to speak the language. Can a person who learned Spanish (2nd language) tell the difference when a hispanic speaks it properly and a Hispanic who speaks spanish ebonics?

I think it has to do with an accent or at least a familiarity of the dialect being used. The Spanish taught in the classroom greatly differs from the Spanish taught in homes. This is easily detected.

Which is the best school to study Spanish in Mexico?

I’ve considered taking a full academic year in Mexico to study Spanish but I only know of Enforex/Don Quijote schools. I would like to know if there are better ones? Anyone with experience perhaps or someone from Mexico can answer my question?

The UNAM is the cheapest and best in general to give out courses of many specialties. You can check it out here:

Is Rosetta Stone a good supplement for learning Spanish?

I am restarting college and i wanted to major in Spanish. I see the commericals on TV for Rosetta Stone and i wanted to know does it really help as a supplement (or as a primary learning tool as advertized)? Other reviews i have read seem mixed feelings about the product. Thanks!

Rosetta S is very good but expensive.

You haven’t said if you are interested in European ( Castillian) Spanish or American Spanish – there ARE some differences in pronunciation, grammar, slang etc.

There arehowever some great affordable online offerings. Its something I have also been putting some thought into – value for money has never been more important.

Good luck
